BURY BLOCKED

I apologies for no posts over the weekend, I had a rather nice few days away.

I hear that Bury was rather exciting over the weekend, a couple of sources have told me that Bury’s road and parking infrastructure couldn’t cope with the number of shoppers coming to the town.

Not sure if this means that I should praise local councils for there foresight and imagination, bringing people to Bury for the new shopping centre.

OR

If I should criticise them for not having enough foresight to realise that the shopping centre was going to need additional parking and a complete upgrade of the local road infrastructure.

I vaguely remembered two or three years ago, Councillor David Nettleton telling SEBC that there was going to be a massive problem with parking unless something was done before the new shopping centre was built.

I think David has been vindicated.

  2. hmmmmmm, maybe a little biased, from what I hear many people were not able to get near the car park, lets hope this is just a temporary problem, i concede the fact that two car parks were out of order.

  4. The Cattle Market car park was closed off at 10:35 on Saturday morning when an SEBC traffic manager placed 4 cones at the entrance from Parkway. I was standing right next to him. Where was Paul Farmer?

At 10:50 the entrance to the Parkway Surface and Parkway Decked were similary coned off. I was standing directly opposite. Where was Paul Farmer?

At 11:00 a traffic manager told me that every car park in Bury was closed. Thereafter, traffic managers periodically removed 2 cones to allow 10-20 cars in to the Cattle Market car park until 15:25 when for the first time in 5 hours more cars were leaving than entering. I was standing right there. Where was Paul Farmer?
